Generated passwords are not stored or transmitted. Use a password manager and a unique password for every account.
How to use this password generator
- Choose the password length and character groups.
- Generate a password.
- Copy it into a trusted password manager.
How does this password generator create randomness?
Code Compass uses the browser’s cryptographic random-number generator rather than Math.random(). Rejection sampling avoids bias when random bytes are mapped into the chosen character set, and the finished characters are shuffled securely. Every selected group contributes at least one character, so enabling lowercase, uppercase, numbers and symbols guarantees that all four appear in the generated password.
Which password length and characters should you choose?
Choose the longest random password the destination service accepts, then enable every character group its rules allow. The default is 20 characters with lowercase, uppercase, numbers and symbols. Easily confused characters such as lowercase L, uppercase I and O, zero and one are excluded from the built-in sets, making generated values easier to transcribe without weakening the underlying random selection method.
Does Code Compass store generated passwords?
No. Password generation happens in the current browser tab and the generated value is not sent to a Code Compass server. Copy it directly into a trusted password manager rather than saving it in notes, email or source code. Local generation reduces network exposure, but it cannot make a shared, compromised or screen-recorded device safe for handling live credentials.
