Format, validate or minify JSON
Use Format JSON to make a compact API response or configuration file readable. Use Minify JSON to remove whitespace before placing a valid value in a request, fixture or environment variable. Both actions validate strict JSON first and report the line and column of the first syntax error when the input cannot be parsed.
Common JSON syntax errors
JSON requires double quotes around object keys and string values. It does not allow trailing commas, comments or unquoted property names. For example, {"name":"Ada"} is valid JSON, while {name:'Ada',} is not. Correct the reported location, then format the result again.
Does this JSON formatter upload my data?
No. Formatting and validation run in the current browser tab with the native JSON parser. The page does not send pasted JSON to a Code Compass server, so it is suitable for reviewing ordinary API payloads and configuration data on a trusted device.
