Base64 is an encoding format, not encryption. Anyone with the value can decode it.

Encode UTF-8 text as Base64
Base64 represents bytes with a limited set of ASCII characters so text can travel through text-only fields, configuration values or an HTTP header. Choose Encode Base64 to convert ordinary UTF-8 text, including accents and emoji, into standard Base64. Choose Decode Base64 to turn a standard Base64 value back into readable UTF-8 text.
Standard Base64 is not encryption
Base64 changes representation; it does not hide a value. Anyone who has a Base64 string can decode it, so it is not appropriate for passwords, API keys or secrets. This tool accepts standard Base64 using +, / and optional = padding. A Base64URL value uses - and _ instead, which is a different variant often seen inside a JWT.
Decode text locally
Encoding and decoding run in the current browser tab. The decoder removes ordinary whitespace and reports an error when the input is not valid Base64 or does not represent UTF-8 text. For a three-part JSON Web Token, use the existing JWT Decoder to inspect its header and payload; decoding a token never verifies its signature.
